Able Investigations help vacate Bristol premises in time for development

Our team of enforcement officers recently helped with the eviction of long-term squatters from a derelict building in Montpelier.

The building, which is situated at the end of Picton Street in a popular part of Bristol, was purchased by the owner of the Crofters Rights and The Lanes with plans to develop it so it can be used by local businesses. The development will fall in line with the transformation of nearby derelict building The Carriageworks into an area providing 112 new homes.

Peaceful Eviction

The new building’s owner instructed Able Investigations to evict occupiers of ‘the Magpie’ squat, which has been home to squatting communities for a number of years. After obtaining a court order, the property’s owner gave instruction and Able Investigation’s team visited the premises during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Our team then revisited the property on Wednesday 31st August to find the squatters in the process of peacefully collecting the last of their possessions and vacating the property, having adhered to our eviction notice and leaving the premises on the Tuesday.

The eviction was a peaceful process, and allowed for the premises to quickly be secured and shut up in preparation for the development work to begin. You can read more about the eviction and the plans for developing the site on Bristol247.
